Client Services Leader position – Full-time
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this position is to lead, direct and manage the Client Services team. The Client Services leader is responsible and accountable for Client Services performance, staff development, workflow and process improvements. The Client Services Leader works in concert with his/her manager to develop team goals and performance standards.

Veterinary Technicians

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To assist veterinarians in the Practice of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. To perform all medical/surgical procedures under the direct supervision of the veterinary staff. I. TECHNICAL VETERINARY DUTIES OFFICE CALLS AND PHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS
Admission Office Visits for Hospitalization, including weight, vital signs and pre-surg exam
Assist the doctor in the Examination Room for outpatient cases by taking the history, vital signs and weight; preparing vaccines and putting up medications; assisting with medical records
Show appropriate video
Start fecal and tests such as Heartworm
Fill prescriptions the doctor orders
Do the pre-anesthetic examination not done in admitting office visit
Discharge dental cases
Discharge neuter and declaw surgeries
Recheck dental examinations
LABORATORY
Responsible for all in-hospital lab work Fecal. CBC, UA, HW, Felv, FIV, cytology and others
Chemistry tests: VET-TEST General Health Profile and Presurgical Profile, Electrolytes, T4 and Cortisol Collect blood
Prepare samples to be sent out--special panels, special tests and
histology
Report results to veterinarians

TREATMENTS
Do all treatments ordered in Day Book which are on tech's side of the book (surgeries, boarding long-term medications)
Assist the veterinarians with daily treatments
Monitor intensive care patients; carry out doctor's orders
Do basic nursing care for all patients
Take and develop x-rays or assist veterinarians
Number and file x-rays; record x-ray in log and in records
Know how to use the IV pumps
SURGERY
Check animals scheduled for surgery
Draw blood and do pre-surgical lab screens
Check oxygen lines and waste gas scavenger system; turn off scavenger system after surgical procedures are completed
Prepare O.R. for surgery; prepare instruments; know different types of surgical techniques and instruments required
Assist veterinarians with restraint
Assist veterinarians with induction/intubation or do induction/intubation
Surgical preparation of patient
Monitor anesthesia closely; use Oximeter and/or ECG machine
Fill anesthesia machine vaporizer as needed and change soda lime
Take patients to and from surgery
Assist surgeon
Monitor patients waking up from anesthesia; help with treatment if patient has reaction to anesthesia
Clean surgery and surgical instruments after each surgery: instruments are cleaned in the ultrasonic cleaner

Clean and scale teeth using dental machines and hand instruments
Polish teeth and do fluoride treatment

MEDICAL RECORDS
Enter all data for hospitalized patients including:
Complete admission information fro doctor's notations
Daily Status fro doctor's notations
Daily Status each time a technician touches a patient, with initials, time, procedures and observations
Boarding information
Hospitalized procedures, surgeries, radiographs, dentistries
Hospital examination findings, pre-surgical exam findings, anesthesia risk, incidents, end condition from doctor

Time surgery begins and how many minutes; suture material, suture pattern; incision location and size; etc., surgeon's notes
Lab tests and results; file outside lab reports in blue file

II. CLEANING OF SURGERY, TREATMENT ROOM, RECOVERY, LAB, BOARDING KENNELS AND DENTAL TREATMENT AREA
Keep the medical part of our hospital a clean and sanitary place in which to work and to keep our patients as germ-free as possible
DAILY:
1) Surgery--clean all surfaces, lights, tables, vacuum and mop floor; launder towels
2) Treatment room--keep tables clean; pick up used syringes, hair and garbage; keep anesthesia and other machines clean, including wheels; vacuum and mop at least every noon and supper break or as needed; keep counters litter free and clean; vacuum computer keys and clean terminals/printer; keep sliding glass doors shut and free of fingerprints; vacuum and mop floor; keep food and clothing out of the area
3) lab--keep sink area clean, clean tubes, discard syringes in proper containers, empty trash; keep cupboard and and counters clean; vacuum and mop floor; clean glass slides
4) ICU room--cages, remove empty water bowls, change bedding, vacuum and mop floor
5) Radiology--pick up after doing procedure; keep protective gear hung up or lay flat; ust, vacuum and mop floor
6) Dental treatment room--clean up after dentistries or other procedures; polish stainless steel wet sinks; clean machines; vacuum and mop floors
7) Hallway to outside--vacuum and mop; take cardboard and trash to dumpster
8) Apartment--follow the schedule and do your part to keep it clean
9) Doctor's office and library--vacuum and dust
10) Evaluate the cleanliness of the boarding kennels and clean as needed.
WEEKLY: Partner with the Kennel Attendants in cleaning the boarding kennels
ONCE A MONTH or as needed:
Wash down all walls in surgery. tx room, recovery, lab, x-ray room, dental treatment room and thoroughly clean area--lnside cupboards, drawers, windows, etc.
Keep drug and supply storage area neat and clean
III. ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES MEDICAL WASTE
Record every syringe used in the patient's medical record, including size
Keep all syringes in proper containers until destroying
Destroy needles and syringes
Put all sharps in sharps container for kennel staff to incinerate
Place other medical waste in the container in the Recovery Room
Place medical waste from Isolation Room in special container for that area only
INVENTORY
Every day for controlled drugs: compare daily log against anesthesia log, check against computer
Once a week, count syringes
Once a year in December, inventory all drugs and hospital supplies; start by December 15 and finish by December 31
List inventory items needed on want list
Know how to use the Inventory Module for ordering, be able to place orders when doctor is unavailable
Unpack and put away supplies every week
Stock shelves and drawers in treatment room
OSHA and MSDSs
Be trained in "Right to Know" OSHA requlrements and follow health and safety procedures
Keep MSDSs and hazardous inventory current in master file in hospital library and in the three other areas: treatment room, kennel, and reception area
Keep all secondary containers properly labeled
MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES
Learn the veterinary diagnostic software and assist the doctors with accessing information
Learn the veterinary journal and client information software and teach the doctors how to access it
Help prepare referral forms and file lab reports.
Send out x-ray badges once a month; supervise monitoring badges; file reports
Answer phones, answer client questions, take care of clients when receptionist needs help
Check to see that animals are clean and have food, water,
Clean kennels when needed during the day; clean kennels and do laundry, etc. for the evening shift
Attend staff meetings and contribute constructive feedback

Client Services Coordinator – AM, PM, and weekend hours

It is imperative that you have a reliable form of transportation and are willing to work some evenings and weekends.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Answering the telephone, screening the needs of the callers for appointments, reservations, medical needs, general pet health information, directions, and referring clients who need immediate treatment as well as complaints and client comments.
- Scheduling appointments and obtaining all pertinent client and patient information. Prepare all required forms, health, immunization and euthanasia certificates, and lab reports.
- Review client charts and check for accuracy and thoroughness of information. Make next appointment or note changes in patient or client status.
- Assure that owners meet all financial obligations or that acceptable arrangements have been made.
- Collect client fees, make changes as necessary and assist in making count of cash box. Verify eligibility of established clients who have balances on their account.
- Perform over-the-counter selling of speciality merchandise, grooming aids and services. Exercise a knowledge of products sold and demonstrate salesmanship abilities.
- Explain and demonstrate products, answer general questions concerning products, record sales slips.
- Educate clients on our website www.lyneanimalhospitals.com as well as the forms available on-line for their convenience: New Client form, Client Survey form, Client promotion forms, etc.
- Accurately fill veterinary prescriptions as prescribed.
- Update client files, prepare and mail thank you cards and welcome aboard cards. Follow-up with clients with clinic records indicate no recent visits and determine whether other veterinary facilities have been used or whether the client still owns the pet.
- Assist in cleaning in conjunction with the Pet Treatment Assistants.
- Assure that Lobby and Reception area are clean, fresh smelling, and portray a professional atmosphere.

Patient Services Coordinators – AM, PM, and weekend hours

It is imperative that you have a reliable form of transportation and are willing to work some evenings and weekends.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize kennel areas of the hospital as often as necessary.
- Determine the type and amount of food the animals receive.
- Observe the animal’s appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease and discontent.
- Walk hospitalized and boarding dogs several times daily to provide exercise and time for elimination of bowels and bladder. Document any unusual changes or behavior and bring them to the veterinarian’s attention.
- Discharge and admit animals; asure animals being discharged have been checked by animal health technician and/or practioner. Make sure animals are clean and fresh smelling prior to discharge.
- Wash and dry towels and blankets. Wash and sterilize water and food bowls.
- Perform general cleaning and collect the trash throughout the hospital.
- Patrol hospital grounds daily, picking up any trash or stool.
- Bath and dry animals as requested utilizing techniques that very depending on type of hair, coat, breed and owner instructions. Perform nail trims and ear cleanings when requested.
Physical Requirements:
This position often requires lifting materials that weigh up to 35 lbs. Frequently requires handling of materials up to 20 lbs. Additionally, handle dogs weighing up to 150 lbs. Walking and/or standing for long periods. Frequently working in a bent position while cleaning. May be required to use strength or agility in capturing and restraining strong, more active animals.

Audrey P.
Audrey has been with Lyne Animal Hospitals since before we were even Lyne Animal Hospitals and were just Chesterfield Veterinary Clinic. She was our first employee (1982) and she and her husband, Charlie, are part of our family. She started as a Receptionist for the original Dr. H.O. Lyne doing everything from answering the phone to cleaning kennels. Next she became an Office Manager of one of our hospitals and now is a key part of the administration team for both Lyne Animal Hospitals.
